A 45-year-old man has been sentenced to 18 years in federal prison for trafficking methamphetamine in the Eastern District of Texas, according to U.S. Attorney Jay R. Combs.
Angel Luis Lopez-Montero, who pleaded guilty to possession with intent to distribute methamphetamine, was sentenced to 216 months by U.S. District Judge Sean D. Jordan on May 28, 2026. The investigation, which began in 2024, revealed Lopez-Montero as a regional methamphetamine dealer, and he admitted to trafficking at least 50 grams.
This case is part of the Homeland Security Task Force (HSTF) project, launched by Executive Order 14159 to combat criminal organizations and human trafficking. The HSTF is made up of several agencies, including the FBI, ICE-HSI, DEA, ATF, IRS-CD, USPIS, FAMS, USSS, DSS, TEXOMA HIDTA, and USMS. The prosecution is being conducted by Eastern District of Texas Assistant U.S. Attorney Matthew T. Johnson.
