The Scio Township Fire Department responded on Memorial Day to I-94 at the Parker Road overpass on the report of someone threatening to jump.
The emergency call came in on Monday, May 25, at 12:45 p.m. The Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO) issued an alert at 12:50 p.m. that day, stating that the road was closed due to an incident. The Sun Times News followed up with Scio Township Fire Chief Andrew Houde.
According to Houde, they received information that a person was on the bridge, threatening to jump.
“Unfortunately before any responders arrived, she did jump,” Houde replied.
She was discovered deceased at the scene. Houde identified the victim as a 26-year-old woman from the Ann Arbor area.
Along with Scio’s response, Huron Valley Ambulance, WCSO and Michigan State Police were also at the scene.
