A New York woman with a fitting name won $1 million in a scratch-off lottery game.
According to a New York Lottery press release, the winner recently purchased a 50Extra ticket at 317 Marcus Garvey Liquors on Marcus Garvey Boulevard in Brooklyn.
The Brooklyn woman, Francine Fortune, won a $1,000,000 award, which she has already claimed.
Fortune chose to receive a single lump sum payment of $416,325 after mandatory withholdings, lottery officials said.
Lottery officials say the odds of winning the 50Extra scratch-off game are 1 in 4.12.
The $5 game continues to provide two top prizes and four $2,500 awards.
The New York Lottery is North America’s biggest and most profitable lottery.
According to the New York Lottery, it gave $3.6 billion in fiscal year 2024-2025 to public schools across the state.
Lottery officials report that scratch-off games produced $4,339,794,048 in total revenue during the same fiscal year.
