Tragic Virginia Bus Crash Takes Lives of 5 Massachusetts Residents, including two children

Five people from Massachusetts lost their lives early Friday morning in Virginia after a passenger bus crashed into a line of vehicles on Interstate 95.

Among those killed were four members of the Doncev family from Greenfield in western Massachusetts, who were traveling to attend a wedding, along with a 25-year-old woman from Worcester who was in a separate vehicle.

The fiery crash occurred around 2:35 a.m. Friday, about 40 miles south of Washington, D.C. The collision left dozens injured and claimed the lives of all five victims, who were occupants of vehicles struck by the bus.

According to Virginia State Police, the bus did not slow down as it approached a construction zone near Quantico, Virginia. It plowed into six vehicles before eventually stopping along the roadside. The crash sent 44 people to hospitals for treatment, while all five fatalities occurred in the cars impacted by the bus.
