Two children remain in critical condition after strong currents swept them away at Turkey Creek Nature Preserve.
Authorities received the call around 4 p.m. reporting that the children, ages 7 to 11, had been carried into the creek at the Pinson preserve. Bystanders eventually pulled them from the water and performed CPR before emergency crews arrived. The children were then transported to a hospital, where they remain in critical condition.
Both children have been taken to UAB Hospital for treatment.
