GOSPORT, Ind. — Indiana police are investigating a fatal shooting that left a man dead in Switzerland County Saturday night.
The Indiana State Police say officers responded just before 9 p.m. to the 11000 block of Bryants Creek Road after receiving a report of a shooting.
Officers arrived to find a 48-year-old man who had already died at the scene from a gunshot wound. The Switzerland County Coroner’s Office officially pronounced him dead a short time later.
Officials have not yet publicly identified the man.
Police have not made any arrests in connection with the shooting, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Police believe the shooting was an isolated incident and that no threat remains to the public.
The Switzerland County Sheriff’s Office, Indiana Conservation Officers, Switzerland County Coroner’s Office and Switzerland County Prosecutor’s Office assisted the Indiana State Police at the scene.
