A horrific shooting occurred outside a Minneapolis nightclub early Sunday morning, injuring nine people.
According to the Minneapolis Police Department, gunfire erupted around 12:27 a.m. outside the Reign Event Center in Uptown at 2901 Hennepin Avenue. 911 callers stated that several persons were injured.
MPD dispatched officers from all five precincts, and the first officers arrived within a minute of the 911 calls.
Four victims were discovered at the scene, including a 20-year-old man with what police described as “potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds.” Three more victims had non-life-threatening gunshot wounds: a 21-year-old man and two women, ages 27 and 21, respectively.
All four victims were brought to Hennepin Healthcare.
Five additional victims came on their own at Hennepin Healthcare and Abbott Northwestern. According to a news statement from MPD, an 18-year-old man presented with a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to Hennepin Healthcare. Four more injured people arrived at Abbott Northwestern Hospital: a 20-year-old man, a 21-year-old man, and a 22-year-old man with seemingly non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, as well as a 21-year-old male with potentially life-threatening gunshot wounds. The victim, who suffered possibly fatal gunshot wounds, was later transported to Hennepin Healthcare by EMS.
Police believe there was a huge crowd outside the event center when an altercation resulted in gunshots, and they are investigating if rounds were fired from a vehicle.
There have been no arrests, and authorities are continuing to investigate the shooting.
