6-year-old dies after minibike crash east of Ann Arbor

A 6-year-old boy killed in a crash while riding a minibike with another child.

According to the Washtenaw County Sheriff’s Office, rescue workers were dispatched at 6:05 p.m. on Sunday, July 26, to the 8600 block of MacArthur Boulevard in Superior Township, east of Ann Arbor, for a crash involving two young children riding a minibike.

Two boys, ages 10 and 6, were riding on the minibike when it collided with a parked vehicle.

The boys were sent to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment. Police reported that the 6-year-old died as a result of his injuries.

The 10-year-old received serious injuries that were not life-threatening.

The crash is still under investigation.

“Our condolences and sympathies go out to the families involved and the community,” Sheriff Alyshia Dyer said.
