Fifteen people were charged this week in two federal investigations for allegedly trafficking drugs in Northeast Ohio and Pennsylvania.
The arrests were the result of a year-long investigation by local and federal officials, centered in Akron.
According to court filings, methamphetamine was procured from drug suppliers in Akron, Ohio, and shipments were organized from the United States-Mexico border. Methamphetamine was purchased in pounds and then resold to drug users in Ohio, Pennsylvania, and elsewhere throughout the region.
Four homes in Akron were used as “stash houses” to store, process, and distribute methamphetamine. Approximately 15 pounds of the substance were confiscated throughout the investigation, with a total of 100 pounds of methamphetamine used in transactions.
The majority of the accused are from Akron, with one coming from Doylestown, Ohio. The others came from East Brady, Pennsylvania; St. Petersburg, Pennsylvania; and Oil City, Pennsylvania.
The Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), Akron Police Department, and Ohio State Highway Patrol all conducted investigations into this matter.
