A Lake Charles man was detained after an investigation on July 24 uncovered roughly $100,000 in illegal narcotics at two separate properties, according to officials.
Bryan J. Henry, 47, was charged with two counts of possessing a schedule I controlled dangerous substance with the intent to distribute and establishing or operating a clandestine laboratory. He is also charged with possession of a firearm by a convicted felon, possession of a legend drug, transactions involving proceeds from drug offenses, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
The searches at 621 Beam St. and 1011 N. Prater St. were carried out by a task force made up of local, state, and federal law enforcement organizations. Officials stated the operation stemmed from an investigation into the distribution of illegal narcotics in Calcasieu Parish.
During the searches, officers seized over 150 grams of synthetic marijuana and around five gallons of synthetic liquid. The search also turned up more than 13 grams of marijuana, drug paraphernalia, and large quantities of precursor and packaging materials used to make and distribute drugs.
Authorities stated that they also confiscated more than 186 grams of a specific synthetic narcotic. Detectives discovered that the chemical is extremely potent and has a low response to Narcan, according to officials.
In addition to the narcotics, law officials retrieved a weapon and discovered more than $1,800 during the investigation.
Henry was arrested and put into the Calcasieu Correctional Center, where his bond is set at $1,215,500.
