A 69-year-old woman was taken into custody for murder after a woman was found dead on the 2600 block of Grand Avenue in Long Beach on Saturday, according to the Long Beach Police Department.
At 7:26 p.m., police responded to a report of an assault in the neighborhood. The victim was unresponsive when officers arrived on the scene. Paramedics from the Long Beach Fire Department attempted to revive the woman, but she was pronounced dead on the site.
“Homicide detectives responded to the scene,” the Long Beach Police Department said. “The preliminary investigation indicates the suspect physically assaulted the victim.”
Estela Jaramillo Rodriguez, of Long Beach, was apprehended near the crime scene. She was arrested at Long Beach City Jail for murder. Rodriguez’s bail was set at $2 million.
At the moment, authorities have not publicly named the victim. The case is still under investigation.
