Furl John Williams, 33, has been sentenced to life in prison, with all but 60 years suspended, after being convicted of murder, armed carjacking, armed robbery, and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in connection with the murder of 27-year-old Wayne Pope.
Williams shot Pope in May 2017 at an Exxon gas station on Silver Hill Road while attempting to steal his car.
“Today’s sentence reflects our commitment to holding those who choose violence fully accountable,” State’s Attorney Jackson stated. “While no sentence can repair the great loss suffered by Mr. Pope’s family, it serves as a reminder that those who perpetrate heinous crimes in our community will be held accountable. I am appreciative to our prosecutors and law enforcement colleagues for their persistent efforts to ensure justice was served in this case.”
