The US Marshals Service Eastern Arkansas Fugitive Task Force apprehended two fugitives wanted in separate homicide investigations from Illinois and Mississippi on July 30 and 31.
On July 30, members of the Eastern Arkansas Fugitive Task Force, with assistance from the Arkansas State Police, Little Rock Police Department, and Arkansas Department of Corrections K-9 Team, apprehended Isaiah H. Houston, who was wanted by authorities in Kankakee County, Illinois, for two counts of first-degree murder and aggravated battery with a firearm.
Houston became involved in an altercation on Labette Manor Drive in Little Rock at 11 a.m. before fleeing on foot into a forested area before law enforcement arrived. The responding task team created a perimeter and conducted a thorough investigation of the surroundings. After a more than four-hour manhunt, Houston was apprehended and detained without incident.
On July 31, the Eastern Arkansas Fugitive Task Force apprehended a 17-year-old adolescent at his home in Conway. Authorities in Holmes County, Mississippi, wanted the teenager for accessory after the fact killing. The kid was taken into custody without incident. Both are presently awaiting extradition.
“Violent offenders cannot escape accountability simply by crossing state lines,” stated Cory Harris, Acting United States Marshal for the Eastern District of Arkansas. “Our task force will continue working tirelessly to locate and apprehend fugitives wanted for violent crimes.”
