Two brothers were detained early Wednesday in connection with an armed robbery at a convenience store on Memorial Boulevard.
Officers responded to Petrol Plus, 1105 Memorial Blvd., at 12:05 a.m. on August 5 after receiving a report of an armed robbery with a knife.
The suspects escaped before officers arrived.
Police said officers swiftly recognized Rickey Smith Jr. and his brother, James Smith, as suspects, as well as the vehicle thought to have been utilized.
Officers and investigators headed to Rickey Smith Jr.’s house, where both brothers eventually came and were arrested.
Police said search warrants were executed at both the residence and the vehicle.
Both males were detained for armed robbery. Additional charges are possible as the investigation progresses.
Authorities stated that the arrests were made within a few hours of the initial contact.
Suspects are deemed innocent until proven guilty in court.
