Employee charged with stealing more than $150,000 from local business

An employee at a local kennel company is facing felony charges after being accused of stealing more than $150,000 from the company, according to officials.

According to investigators, Jennifer Caulkin was the general manager of Paradise Kennels, 3996 Belair Road, when she was accused of stealing over $150,000 between September 2023 and February 2026.

According to the incident report, the proprietors began investigating after discovering that bank deposits and register slips did not match.

During the investigation, the owners discovered that Caulkin was also misrepresenting her hours and earning herself unlawful overtime.

According to the report, Caulkin was fired on February 17.

Caulkins was arrested Friday and charged with felony theft by taking, according to the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office. She is now housed at the Charles B. Webster Detention Center.
