A former teacher’s aide has been sentenced for child molestation involving victims from a Richmond County elementary school and a local trampoline park.
Caurey Rollins pled guilty on Monday to eight counts of child molestation in Richmond County.
Seven of the counts are for three girls he molested while working as a teacher’s aide at Glenn Hills Elementary School.
The eighth count concerns a child whose feet he licked at the Urban Air trampoline facility in 2023.
Rollins was sentenced to 10 years in prison, followed by 10 years on probation. He will be listed as a sex offender.
Rollins is already serving a 10-year sentence in a different Columbia County case, when he pled guilty to approaching a child and demanding to view his feet.
Monday’s Richmond County sentencing will run concurrently with that term.
Rollins was arrested in 2023 for the Urban Air incident. Following his arrest and deportation from Glenn Hills, students in his gym class began reporting mistreatment.
Monique Braswell, a Richmond County parent, stated that she began receiving messages from other parents after Rollins was taken from the school.
“I was devastated.” I cried, screamed, and shrieked because we don’t send our children to school to be groped, molested, or talked down to,” Braswell explained.
Braswell stated that the arrest gave victims the confidence to speak up.
“The youngsters were overjoyed to know they wouldn’t have to gaze in his face at primary school anymore. “They were willing to tell everything,” she explained.
One child victim’s mother testified in court on Monday, arguing for a longer sentence. She denied an interview, but Braswell said the kid would find ways to escape school on days when she had exercise class.
“She didn’t want to attend school on gym day. She did inform her mother that she had a sick stomach or pain. “She just did not want to go to school,” Braswell explained.
Braswell stated that she and the victim’s mother believe Rollins deserves a life sentence.
“You tell me that the anguish that these children will experience for the rest of their lives was only worth ten years. “I’ll never accept that under any circumstances,” Braswell declared.
