A Gaithersburg man is enjoying a $200,000 Maryland Lottery win after playing the identical Pick 5 number combination four times in a single drawing.
According to the Maryland Lottery, Russell Bowie won four $50,000 top prizes after purchasing four straight-bet Pick 5 tickets with the combination 1-1-3-2-0 for the evening drawing on July 16. Bowie explained that the numbers are based on a previous house address and are among his favorite combinations to play.
After waking up in the middle of the night on his day off, Bowie checked the winning numbers and discovered they matched his Pick 5 selection. He then took the tickets from his car to confirm his prize.
“We sent up some prayers of gratitude, that’s for sure,” Bowie told the Maryland Lottery.
The winning tickets were acquired at the 7-Eleven on 700 Gaither Road in Rockville, which will get a $2,000 bonus for selling all four winning tickets.
