The man arrested for the fatal shooting of a woman in Indianapolis earlier this week has admitted to the murder.
According to court documents, Irvens Norvilus, 37, shot and killed 31-year-old Chrisline Stephen on August 3 in an apartment complex on Indianapolis’ northeast side.
IMPD officers responded to a disturbance complaint at the Residences on 56th Street on Brendon Way Court and discovered Norvilus attempting to flee the scene in an SUV. According to police, Norvilus then exited the vehicle with his hands raised.
Norvilus allegedly informed officers, “I killed my baby momma.”
Police apprehended Norvilus before discovering Stephen in an apartment with gunshot wounds. She was ultimately pronounced deceased.
Multiple witnesses reported hearing an argument between Stephen and Norvilus. One person reported hearing three gunshots.
During an interview, Norvilus informed police that Stephen had abandoned him. He also added that “he got his justice and now wanted the family to have justice.”
Officers discovered a weapon and some live 9mm ammunition inside the SUV. Norvilus reportedly informed detectives that he stole a gun and drove it to the residence.
Norvilus is currently in the Marion County Jail, with charges from the Marion County Prosecutor’s Office still pending.
