UPDATE: The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office has arrested a 19-year-old man in connection with the murder of Tyrone Whittaker, 44, this morning.
According to deputies, Demarion Drinks is accused with murder and possession of a firearm while committing a crime.
Drinks was apprehended shortly after 2 p.m. at his residence, with assistance from the Sheriff’s Office SWAT and Criminal Investigation Division.
No other information has been released.
ORIGINAL: The Richmond County Sheriff’s Office and Richmond County Coroner Mark Bowen arrived to Boy Scout Road at Rae’s Creek on Saturday morning after receiving reports of a body.
When they arrived, they discovered a deceased black man by the side of the road.
Tyrone Bradley Whitaker, 44, of Augusta was declared deceased on the scene at 7:52 a.m. He had been shot at least once, Coroner Bowen stated.
The autopsy has been scheduled.
There’s no word about any suspects.
