US Customs and Border Protection (CBP) officials in Texas recently confiscated over $1.7 million in cocaine from a car driven by a US citizen.
On August 4, CBP officials at the Del Rio Port of Entry’s Del Rio International Bridge came across a 2013 Dodge Durango driven by a 29-year-old American man and referred it for secondary examination utilizing a nonintrusive inspection system.
During a physical check, authorities discovered 49 parcels hidden within the vehicle’s quarter panels. The parcels included 129.67 pounds of purported cocaine, worth $1,731,425.
Homeland Security Investigations special agents detained one person and initiated a criminal investigation after CBP seized the cocaine.This large seizure is the direct result of our CBP officers’ persistent attention and commitment,” stated Port Director Liliana Flores of the Del Rio Port of Entry. “This is a clear example of how our investment in technology and training directly impacts our ability to secure the border and protect our communities.”
