A ShotSpotter activation in Dorchester on Wednesday afternoon resulted in the arrest of two people.
Officers from District C-11 responded to a radio dispatch for a ShotSpotter activation near 719 Washington Street about 3:14 p.m. on August 19, 2026.
Multiple Boston Police units, including SWAT, K-9, and the Youth Violence Strike Force, responded to help.
When cops arrived, they discovered ballistic evidence in front of Roslin Street, which connects with 719 Washington Street.
District detectives were dispatched to investigate and assess the crime scene.
All responding units received a description of the suspects involved, as well as a suspect car.
A car matching the description was seen driving along Washington Street toward Melville Street.
The vehicle escaped from officers at high speed and was last seen near Waldeck Street.
Several cops began searching the neighborhood and discovered a suspect sprinting through backyards on Tonawanda Street.
A foot chase continued, with the suspect seen hopping over a fence into the backyard of a Tonawanda Street property.
The culprit was arrested, and two officers were minorly injured in the process.
Both officers were sent to local hospitals for non-life-threatening injuries.
Members of the Youth Violence Strike Force witnessed the fleeing vehicle crash at Tonawanda Street and Greenbrier Street.
Officers took the driver from the vehicle and handcuffed him.
The suspect was sent to a local hospital for non-life-threatening injuries.
Boston Police K-9s were dispatched to investigate the suspect’s flight path.
Officers discovered a handgun in a backyard on Tonawanda Street.
The pistol was identified as a Glock 27 with a magazine capable of carrying 22 rounds of ammo.
Following additional inquiry, officers discovered that the license plates on the involved car had been reported stolen.
Seth Porong, 19, of Brighton, is scheduled to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court on charges of reckless driving, receiving stolen property, receiving a stolen motor vehicle, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license.
A 16-year-old juvenile male is scheduled to be arraigned in Boston Juvenile Court on counts of delinquent to wit, unlawful possession of a handgun, delinquent to wit, possession of a large capacity feeding device, and trespassing.
The adolescent man was also wanted on various warrants for assault and violence with a dangerous weapon, assault and battery, grand theft over $1,200, and firearm violations.
