A Lady Lake man was arrested on drug charges after being found with a trafficking amount of methamphetamine in his pocket.
An officer on patrol saw the passengers of a passenger vehicle, including 47-year-old William Frank Rysavy, driving north on Dixie Avenue around 2:20 a.m. Saturday, according to an arrest report from the Fruitland Park Police Department.
As the vehicle approached a red light, it came to a stop over the stop bar and in the intersection’s crosswalk. The police then stopped the vehicle near Chestnut and Register Road. He asked the female driver to step out so he could speak with her away from Rysavy in the front passenger seat, according to the report.
She complied, and the officer observed a black THC vape pen. The driver indicated that she did not have a medicinal marijuana license and that there could be a cut straw in the vehicle. According to the report, she then consented to a car search.
The police discovered another black THC vape pen in the driver’s seat and two gabapentin pills in the purse. He proceeded on to a blue rucksack on the floorboard of the front passenger side, which held a baggie containing 2.4 grams of marijuana. Rysavy did not have a medicinal marijuana card, according to the report.
Rysavy denied having anything on him and gave his consent to be searched. The officer found a clear plastic bag containing 14.2 grams of methamphetamine in the pockets of his shorts. He then indicated that the backpack belonged to him, but he had no memory of marijuana being inside, according to the report.
The California native was detained on allegations of trafficking methamphetamine and possessing drug paraphernalia. He was booked into the Lake County Jail without bond.
He was also one of two people detained in May on narcotics charges, then again in December 2025 with 20 baggies of narcotic residue.
