Florida Man Arrested On Warrant And Drug Charges

A Palm Coast driver wanted in connection with an injury hit-and-run was taken into custody Friday evening after deputies pulled him over and found methamphetamine in his vehicle.

Deputies detained Jody Silvernell, 62, after a traffic check on State Road 100 West. Authorities were initially notified that Silvernell was passing through Bunnell with an active arrest warrant stemming from a December crash.

After identifying his vehicle, deputies initiated the stop, validated the warrant, and arrested Silvernell without incident.

A subsequent search of the automobile revealed narcotics and paraphernalia. Deputies located a bottle containing a crystal-like substance within the center console, as well as another container containing a white powder in the driver’s-side door pocket.

Field tests revealed that both drugs were methamphetamine. Deputies also found a glass pipe with burned residue lodged between the vehicle’s seats.

Silvernell was charged with an outstanding warrant, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia. He was put into the Sheriff Perry Hall Inmate Detention Facility and eventually posted a $4,500 bond.

According to investigators, the ongoing warrant stems from a December 15, 2025 incident on Belle Terre Parkway in Palm Coast, in which Silvernell allegedly fled after rear-ending another vehicle and injuring the driver.

“This guy first made the mistake of leaving a crash in which the other driver was hurt, then he thought he could drive around with a warrant and not get caught, and on top of that he had drugs in the vehicle,” Sheriff Rick Staly told reporters.
