Parents taken into custody after 5-year-old Peoria boy left in car dies

A 5-year-old boy is dead, and his parents are facing negligent murder and child abuse charges after leaving him in a car for over three hours, according to authorities.

The Peoria Police Department identified the parents as Mihail and Anca Sabo.

Just after 3:45 p.m., officers were summoned to a house near 67th Avenue and Happy Valley Road after receiving multiple reports of a youngster being found inside a car.

Authorities were informed that family members had pulled the youngster from the vehicle and started CPR.

Peoria Fire Medical crews responded and transported the youngster to a neighboring hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

According to preliminary information, the family returned home from church about 1 p.m. for a baptism celebration. Around 3:46 p.m., family members realized the youngster was missing and began searching for him, where his mother discovered him lifeless in the car.

The boy’s parents were arrested and put into the Maricopa County Jail.

The inquiry into the deadly occurrence is still ongoing.
