A 75-year-old villager was detained at Colony Plaza when a deputy determined he was wanted for an outstanding warrant.
Robert Dwight Redmond of the Village of Duval was in the Publix parking lot at 6:15 p.m. Tuesday when a Sumter County sheriff’s deputy approached him regarding a call for assistance.
A routine computer check found that Redmond was sought on a Levy County warrant for failure to appear in court for the underlying charge of not having a motor vehicle registration. The warrant had been issued on August 18.
He was taken into custody, put into the Sumter County Detention Center, and released after posting a $500 bond.
