A retired Washington, D.C., man won $100,000 after his son purchased two identical Maryland Lottery Pick 5 tickets with his father’s preferred numbers.
According to MD Lottery, the son was performing errands when he offered to get lottery tickets for his father. Knowing his chosen combination, 15670, he bought two tickets with the identical numbers. Later that night, his father checked the evening drawing results and learned that both tickets had won $50,000 top prizes, totalling $100,000.
“I was amazed. The retired Transit Authority employee stated, “I’ve won before, but never like this, never a top prise, and now I have two of them.”
The winning tickets were acquired from the 7-Eleven on 9500 Ruby Lockhart Boulevard in Bowie. The merchant will receive a combined $1,000 bonus for selling both winning tickets.
