A man was arrested after a brief standoff with CPD on the Far South Side overnight, and charges are pending.
According to Chicago police, the incident began when officers were dispatched to a residence in the 12700 block of South Lowe Avenue in West Pullman in response to a complaint of a person armed with a gun.
According to authorities, a woman contacted to report that a known offender was under the influence of alcohol and armed with a firearm.
According to officers, the suspect, a 47-year-old man, briefly exited the apartment and fired several shots into the air before returning inside.
Following the gunshot, officers declared a SWAT incident, and the SWAT team arrived at the location by 12:11 a.m. to begin trying to remove the man from the apartment.
According to authorities, the encounter ended around 1:44 a.m., when the suspect exited the home and was arrested.
After the arrest, a firearm was found on the scene.
Charges against the suspect, who has not been identified, are still pending.
There were no injuries reported, and an investigation is ongoing.
