Woman driving Audi apprehended after cutting through parking lot to avoid red light

A Summerfield woman apprehended for driving with a suspended license faces additional charges for narcotics discovered in her Audi.

A deputy saw Emma Jean Paxson, 28, driving a black Audi SUV near the intersection of U.S. Hwy. 441 and Southeast Sunset Harbor in Summerfield around 5:20 p.m. Wednesday, according to an arrest report from the Marion County Sheriff’s Office.

To avoid a red light at the intersection, the driver pulled into the parking lot of a neighboring Mobil gas station. It did not come to a halt before turning north onto U.S. Highway 441. According to the complaint, the deputy then stopped the car for failing to obey the traffic light.

He asked Paxson for her driver’s license, but she didn’t think it was valid. Before arresting her, he confirmed that her license had been suspended. A subsequent inventory of her vehicle showed a black cloth bag in the center console with several pieces of tin foil and fentanyl, a red straw, and a plastic bag of methamphetamines.

A later check of Paxson’s criminal history revealed that she had two prior offenses for driving while her license was suspended. According to the report, she was found guilty on April 8, 2024 in Lake County and again on October 10, 2025 in Marion County.

Paxson was charged with possession of fentanyl, methamphetamine, and drug paraphernalia, as well as driving while license suspended (second or subsequent violation). The Iowa native was booked into Marion County Jail and freed after posting a $7,000 bond.
