Ohio woman accused of stealing over 37,000 from food pantry

A Delaware woman has been charged with allegedly stealing from a food pantry.

Kathryn Whiting, 62, a former co-director of a Delaware-area food pantry, is accused of taking at least $37,500.

She is charged with two second-degree felonies, stealing from a person in a protected class and forbidden charitable activities and practices, as well as a third-degree criminal, telecommunication fraud. Whiting is accused of utilizing donated funds for personal gain and stealing from the elderly.

According to the indictment, the alleged crimes against Eastside Mission Food Pantry, which is affiliated with Eastside Mission Church of Delaware, occurred between January 1, 2024 and September 14, 2026.

Whiting was arraigned on Friday and has court appearances scheduled for November and December.
