Detectives, patrol officers and K9 “Vice” executed a narcotics-related search warrant at an apartment on Harding Court on Thursday afternoon.
According to the Southbridge Police Department, officers seized more than 649 grammes of suspected cocaine packaged for distribution, an amount of fentanyl, a “kilo press” device, and other items often used in narcotics packaging and distribution.
The search was undertaken at 5:30 p.m. Drug traffickers typically use a kilo press to condense loose powder narcotics into one-kilogram blocks.
Jerard R. Rice, 31, of Southbridge, was charged with trafficking over 200 grammes of cocaine and possessing a Class A narcotic.
Rice was taken to police headquarters and held without bail for a probation violation resulting from his arrest.
He was arraigned in Dudley District Court on Friday.
