Two Alabama residents are now in custody after officials reported that a 20‑year‑old man was fatally shot and another person sustained injuries outside the fast‑food outlet.
Ernesto Pablo, 20, faces capital murder charges for the death of Isaiah Hosanna, along with attempted murder and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle, the Birmingham Police Department announced Wednesday. A 17‑year‑old male was also arrested in connection with the shooting, though his specific charges remain unclear.
Police confirmed that the teenage suspect was taken to Birmingham City Jail and placed on a 48‑hour felony extension.
On September 28, Hosanna was allegedly at the McDonald’s located at the 2200 block of Bessemer Road in Birmingham, Alabama’s largest city, situated in the north‑central part of the state.
According to local Fox affiliate WBRC, police believe Hosanna and others had arranged to meet someone outside the restaurant. After the meeting concluded, one of the suspects allegedly opened fire, striking Hosanna and another individual.
Around 9 p.m., officers responded to reports of a shooting at the McDonald’s. They found Hosanna in the parking lot; despite being rushed to a nearby hospital, he was pronounced dead at approximately 9:30 p.m.
The fast‑food restaurant’s windows were shattered in the exchange.
Police described the other victim’s injuries as “non‑life‑threatening.” The purpose of the meeting has not yet been clarified.
Pablo and the teenage suspect were arrested Tuesday in the 2100 block of Westmead Drive Southwest in Decatur, Alabama, roughly 80 miles north of the crime scene.
The teenage suspect was booked into Birmingham City Jail, while Pablo was placed in Jefferson County Jail without bond.
