Mother returns to powerless home where three children are left without food for days — only to collect her clothes and leave ‘$3’, cops say

Heather Wizbicki (Pasco County Jail).

A Florida mother allegedly abandoned her three children for several days in a powerless, water‑less home, leaving them with just $3 for food.

Wizbicki, 35, now faces three counts of child neglect.

According to a probable‑cause affidavit from the Pasco County Sheriff’s Office, she left her 14‑, 13‑, and 9‑year‑old children in the apartment on Sept. 21. The power had already been cut off for days, and she reportedly provided no food, water, or money. She briefly returned on Sept. 24, but only to “collect clothes for herself,” the affidavit notes.

When she did return, she left the kids $3 to buy food. The affidavit also says the children had no phone to call a relative or anyone for help.

“There were multiple days where the children were deprived of food and went hungry,” police wrote.

On Sept. 28,after a week of being left to fend for themselves,a neighbor discovered the children and alerted authorities.

Police described the apartment as “unlivable.”

Investigators reported, “The residence had feces on the floor, rotten food stored in multiple bags, trash throughout the rooms, no running water, and a foul smell. The odor made it hard for the children to breathe, even with all the windows open.”

Wizbicki also left a cat in the home and now faces an additional charge of confining an animal without food or water.

Deputies learned that she was already behind bars after being stopped for illegal tinted windows on Sept. 24 at the intersection of 10th Street and Fifth Avenue in Zephyrhills.

A police dog reportedly alerted officers to drugs in the vehicle, and fentanyl was recovered.

She remains in the Pasco County Jail without bond; a court date has not been scheduled.

The Department of Children and Families has been notified and is conducting its own investigation. The children’s current whereabouts are unclear, and Wizbicki’s bond conditions prohibit any contact with them.
