A Florida preschool teacher was arrested after allegedly dragging a child by the ear “from one side of a desk to another,” authorities reported.
The 28‑year‑old teacher, Cheyenne Eigner, faces a child‑abuse charge, according to Duval County court records reviewed by Law&Crime. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office arrested her, booked her into jail, and set a $5,000 bond, which she has since posted.
On May 22, Eigner was working at 9039 Beach Blvd., the address of Cornerstone Christian School, when the incident occurred, the arrest report confirms.
The school describes itself on its website as “a non‑denominational Christian School located in Jacksonville, Florida, serving over 320 students from Kindergarten through 12th Grade in a Bible‑based curriculum.”
Investigators later reviewed surveillance footage from that day and observed Eigner “dragging” a child “by the ear, moving her from one side of a desk to another, for no apparent reason,” according to the court documents.
The child, whose age was redacted,“immediately clutched her ear after the suspect released her grip.” She appeared to be in pain but did not sustain any lasting injury.
Eigner was detained on October 1. The arrest report does not explain the four‑month gap between the alleged incident and her arrest.
She is scheduled to be arraigned on October 22.
Cornerstone Christian School issued a statement to local outlet WJXT, acknowledging that a former employee had been arrested in connection with the May incident involving the inappropriate handling of a student.
“As soon as administration learned of the incident, the employee was immediately removed from campus, their employment was terminated, and the matter was reported to law enforcement,” the school said. “We have cooperated fully with investigators throughout the process. The safety and well‑being of our students is, and will always be, our highest priority.”
Jacksonville lies in northeast Florida.
