On Tuesday, August 25, 2026, at about 1:51 p.m., Leicester Police Officers Ives Fisher and Stephen Kustigian were summoned to the Walmart Supercenter on Soojian Drive in response to a report that a man stole a few hundred dollars’ worth of clothing.
Officer Ives stated that as he and Officer Kustigian approached the entrance to Walmart’s parking lot, they noticed an individual matching the description provided by dispatch crossing Main Street, dressed in black and carrying two backpacks.
“I safely turned my cruiser around, looking westbound. Officer Fisher stated, “I exited my cruiser and noticed that the male’s walking pace had quickened.”
Officer Fisher said he called “sir” to gain the man’s attention, but he kept walking.
“I then began running toward him in an attempt to stop him,” Officer Fisher stated. “When I caught up with him, he seemed surprised that I was there. I instantly told him to put his hands behind his back and that he was being arrested. The guy was later identified as Jose Delgado.”
Jose A. Delgado, 52, lives in Worcester, Massachusetts, according to authorities.
