Woman drives down highway with boyfriend clinging to her Dodge Dart’s hood for over 4 miles, and her toddler inside: Police

Janecia Greenfield‑Williams of the Lenoir County Sheriff’s Office is linked to the Kinston, N.C., stretch where she allegedly kept her boyfriend on her car’s hood for almost five miles, according to Google Maps.

In North Carolina, a woman reportedly drove over four miles with her boyfriend hanging onto the hood of her Dodge Dart, while police say she swerved at about 60 mph and a toddler rode in the back seat.

Twenty‑three‑year‑old Janecia Greenfield‑Williams was taken into custody Saturday after Lenoir County deputies answered a domestic‑incident call on U.S. Highway 258 North near Banks School Road, court records show.

She allegedly covered 4.6 miles with her boyfriend perched on the silver Dodge Dart’s hood while her three‑year‑old rode inside, and authorities have not clarified how he managed to climb up.

A probable‑cause statement reads: “The defendant unlawfully and willfully did, in the presence of a minor, assault [her boyfriend] with a deadly weapon, a silver Dodge Dart sedan, a person with whom the defendant had a personal relationship, by driving a vehicle while he was on the hood … at a high rate of speed while swerving.”

Officers finally pulled her over, examined the boyfriend, who left unharmed, and then booked Greenfield‑Williams on charges including assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, assault with a deadly weapon in the presence of a minor, reckless endangerment, resisting a public officer, misdemeanor domestic‑violence and several traffic offenses.

The resisting‑officer count arises from her reported refusal to cooperate during arrest; court documents note she was “pulling away and straightening out her legs while refusing to get into the patrol vehicle.”

She also confronts two registration violations: one for knowingly displaying a fictitious plate, and another for driving on U.S. Highway 258 North with an expired tag she was aware of.

Greenfield‑Williams is slated to appear in court on Oct. 26 and remains detained at the Lenoir County Jail.
