An 18-year-old woman was killed in the Belmont Cragin area on Wednesday night, according to Chicago police.
The gunshot occurred at approximately 8:53 p.m. in the 2700 block of North Monitor Avenue.
Police said the woman was discovered inside a home with a gunshot wound to the head.
She was taken to Loyola University Medical Center, where she was subsequently confirmed dead, authorities said. Her identify hasn’t been revealed.
Further facts about the shooting were not immediately available.
Detectives from Area Five are conducting an investigation.
