Teen Apprehended After Using AI Image To Frame Ex-Boyfriend For Riverview School Threat

A former Riverview High School student is facing felony charges after officials say she used an AI-altered image to frame a classmate for making threats on campus.

Deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to Riverview High School on October 14, 2026, after school administration received an email warning of a potential attack. The message included a screenshot of an Instagram post in which a male student appeared to threaten a mass massacre at the school.

Detectives swiftly located and interviewed the male student. After an initial investigation, investigators confirmed that he had nothing to do with the post.

The investigation quickly switched to his ex-girlfriend, Joelle Allen-Robinson, a former student at the institution. When officers questioned Allen-Robinson, she admitted to sending the email to the school and knowing the screenshot was created using artificial intelligence.

Following her confession, deputies arrested Allen-Robinson. She was arrested and charged with making a written or electronic threat to commit a mass shooting or act of terrorism, illegally using a two-way communication device, and disrupting a school site or function.
