Augusta man sentenced to 25 years in prison for trafficking meth in South Carolina

An Augusta man was sentenced to 25 years in a South Carolina prison after a jury found him guilty of trafficking a large quantity of methamphetamine.

Angelo Xzavier Allen, 41, was convicted on October 8 of trafficking 400 grams or more of methamphetamine in Lexington County. Circuit Court Judge Jane Merrill imposed the sentence under a mandatory minimum law.

Allen will be eligible for parole, according to the 11th Circuit Solicitor’s Office.

The case stems from a March 12, 2025 traffic stop on Interstate 20 in Lexington County. According to investigators, Allen was driving from Augusta to Lexington when he agreed to allow cops to check his vehicle.

They discovered 491 grams of meth underneath the passenger seat.

Jurors heard testimony that he was headed to Lexington County to conduct a drug transaction.

According to officials, Allen has a prior criminal history in Georgia, including convictions for drug, firearms, and aggravated assault. He was on probation for serious assault when the stop occurred.
