Illinois Lotto player wins $7.4 Million from ticket purchased at SW Side gas station

An Illinois Lotto player won $7.4 million after buying a ticket at a Southwest Side gas station, according to the Illinois Lottery.

The winning ticket was purchased at a BP gas station on 6751 W. Archer Ave. in Chicago’s Garfield Ridge area.

The ticket matched all six numbers in Monday’s drawing (6-12-13-14-30-42).

Abraham, the manager of the BP, expressed excitement after learning that his store sold the winning ticket.

I can’t believe it—it’s so amazing to have a jackpot-winning ticket sold right here in our store. “I hope it was one of our regulars,” Abraham explained. “I have been the manager for about 20 years. We sold a $100,000 Lucky Day Lotto ticket a few months ago, so it appears to be our lucky year.”

The BP will receive a $74,000 bonus for selling the winning jackpot ticket, which is equivalent to 1% of the entire prize sum.

Another large win came on Monday night when a lucky player matched all six numbers in the Lotto Million 2 drawing, winning $1 million. The winning numbers were 14-18-20-21-27-31.

The winning ticket was purchased from Route 3 Fuel and Liquor, located at 2401 Mississippi Ave. in Sauget, Illinois. The store will earn a $10,000 bonus for selling the winning ticket, which represents 1% of the total prize value.

So far this year, Illinois Lottery players have claimed roughly 5 million winning Lotto tickets, totaling over $60.5 million, according to the Illinois Lottery.

The winners have one year from the date of the drawing to redeem their rewards. The Illinois Lottery advises lucky winners to sign the back of their tickets and keep them in a secure location until they are ready to claim their prizes.
