Prosecutors have filed homicide and accessory charges against a Los Angeles man and woman in connection with the disappearance and assumed death of a woman whose phone washed up in Santa Monica last year, according to a LA County District Attorney news release issued on Monday.
Delorean Bijon Brandon, 41, and Kaylee Markowski, 34, have been charged with the murder of 38-year-old Christina Downer, who went missing in September 2025, according to the Los Angeles County District Attorney’s Office. Christina Downer is the sister of Jimmy Fowlie, a Saturday Nite Live writer.
Both offenders were set to be arraigned Monday at the Clara Shortridge Foltz Criminal Justice Center’s Department 30 in downtown Los Angeles.
According to prosecutors, Brandon killed Downer on or around September 19, 2025. Markowski, Brandon’s girlfriend, is accused of helping him dispose of the victim’s body. Downer’s cellphone was eventually retrieved after washing up on the Santa Monica coast, but her corpse has never been found.
Brandon is charged with one count of murder and two felony counts of harming a spouse following separate allegations that he assaulted his wife twice in 2022. Markowski faces one felony count of accessory after the fact.
If convicted on all counts, Brandon could face a life term in state prison. Markowski faces a maximum of three years in county jail.
The prosecution is being handled by Hilary Williams, Deputy District Attorney in the Major Crimes Division. The Los Angeles Police Department’s Robbery-Homicide Division is still investigating the crime.
Criminal accusations are official allegations, and both defendants are deemed innocent until and until they are proven guilty in court.
