While patrolling early Saturday morning, Altoona police discovered a man in a nightclub parking lot with various drugs, including heroin and methamphetamine.
Police said they were patrolling The Palace on Union Avenue at 2:40 a.m. on November 15 when they saw a man inside a vehicle. He was later recognized as Daniel Lee Loomis, 38, from Alum Bank.
According to police, when they approached the vehicle, Loomis seemed to be handling prescription pills and placing them in baggies. Officers reported finding a big sum of cash on his dashboard and a hypodermic needle on his lap.
Loomis was pulled from the vehicle and arrested.
A search warrant was issued for Loomis’ vehicle. Police said they discovered 15 grams of methamphetamine, 6 grams of heroin, 45 amphetamine/dextroamphetamine pills, two scales, packaging tools, and $726 in US money.
Loomis was charged with several counts of felony possession with intent to deliver, as well as misdemeanor possession of a controlled substance and drug paraphernalia.
He was detained in Blair County Prison with a bail of 10% of $40,000 by Magisterial District Judge Paula Aigner.
A preliminary hearing is set for November 26 in front of MDJ Benjamin Jones.
