A suspect has been arrested on aggravated assault charges following a multi-vehicle crash at a Circle K in Mesa, according to the municipal police department.
Police stated that just before midnight on Friday, police were dispatched to Alma School and Main Street in response to a reported crash involving three vehicles, in which two individuals fled the area.
When police arrived on the scene, a K9 led the search and discovered the suspect in a nearby trailer park, officials said.
Police stated the suspect was uncooperative and noncompliant, so officers used less lethal force. A K9 even bit the suspect, prompting cops to take him into custody.
According to authorities, a K9 discovered a crowbar in the suspect’s hand, as reported by witnesses.
Witnesses positively identified the person taken into custody.
After being brought to the hospital, the defendant was placed into jail on severe assault charges.
The victims reported no major injuries, and the suspect did not sustain any serious injuries as a result of the arrest, officials said.
