A Lucas County grand jury indicted two men on Monday for murder in the November 2 shooting death of 19-year-old Jasmine Queen in South Toledo.
On Monday, Marvin Pettaway, 18, and Marshaun Purley, 18, were indicted on various counts. Pettaway was detained on November 20, and police filed a murder warrant for Purley that same day.
Pettaway and Purley were indicted on the following counts:
- one count of aggravated murder
- two counts of murder
- three counts of attempted murder
- nine counts of felonious assault
- one count of discharging a firearm on or near prohibited premises
- one count of having weapons under disability
Queen was found shot in the early morning hours of November 2 in a business plaza near the intersection of Hill Avenue and Reynolds Road, and she died later in the hospital. According to authorities, the incident occurred during a party or gathering at The Weekend restaurant and lounge that spilled into the plaza’s parking lot.
The Lucas County Coroner’s Office determined her death was a homicide caused by a gunshot wound to the torso. The shooting also injured two additional women, aged 18 and 20.
According to court filings, Pettaway and Purley both shot multiple rounds from a pistol during the incident.
Pettaway made his first appearance in Toledo Municipal Court on Friday, and a judge set his bond at $1 million. He is due to return to court for a preliminary hearing on December 1.
