Rutland man arrested for alleged threat at Ohio University

ATHENS, Ohio – Shortly before noon on Nov. 6, 2017, officers from the Ohio University Police Department responded to a report that an employee of Nelson Dining Hall had threatened to “take down” himself and other employees of the dining hall when he reported to work at 2 p.m.

According to OUPD, Curtis Embrey, 38, of Rutland, Ohio had made the threat. Officers and detectives from OUPD, with assistance from the Fairfield-Hocking-Athens Major Crimes Unit, confirmed the veracity of the threats and immediately obtained an arrest warrant for Embrey according to a statement from OUPD. Embrey was charged with making terroristic threats, a felony of the third degree.

As a precaution, OUPD was working with Dining Services to temporarily close Nelson Commons when Embrey was taken into custody, without incident, in a nearby parking garage at 1:35 p.m. He was transported to the Southeast Ohio Regional Jail and banned from campus.
