A large illegal cannabis distribution operation in the Bronx was shut down today after a coordinated law enforcement raid yielded over 400 pounds of illegal cannabis and a loaded firearm, according to officials.
According to the NYC Sheriff’s Office, officers of the Sheriff Joint Compliance Task Force, working with the NYPD’s Detective Bureau, DESU, TARU, and the Bronx District Attorney’s Office, executed a search warrant at an alleged illicit cannabis warehouse earlier today. Authorities claimed that two people were arrested as part of the operation, and the investigation is ongoing.
Officials claimed the search warrant was part of an ongoing effort to fight large-scale criminal cannabis distribution networks in New York City. Upon entering the facility, authorities allegedly discovered hundreds of pounds of cannabis prepared for distribution, as well as an illegal, loaded weapon. The confiscation is one of several significant cannabis-related enforcement actions revealed in the Bronx this month.
The Sheriff’s Office publicly praised the Bronx DA and the NYPD for their ongoing cooperation in these enforcement operations, emphasizing that combined compliance efforts are aimed at both safety hazards and unlawful commercial activities.
As New York begins to implement its legal cannabis market, officials believe unlawful distribution hubs pose risks to consumer safety, tax revenue, and neighborhood security.
Residents in the surrounding region are invited to provide any pertinent information to law authorities as investigators try to determine the full scope of the warehouse’s operations.
