A man was detained following a post-vacation altercation with his girlfriend over money.
Austin Sapp, 38, was arrested on Saturday for battery in connection with an incident in Oxford’s Parkwood community in November.
According to an arrest complaint from the Wildwood Police Department, Sapp and his girlfriend were returning from an out-of-state trip when the incident occurred. Sapp approached his girlfriend and informed her that he needed $200. She refused to give him the money, so he choked her. She was able to contact law enforcement, causing Sapp to flee by foot.
He returned to the house on Saturday, claiming he needed to get his possessions. He was detained and put into the Sumter County Detention Center on a $5,000 bond.
