A former salesman at a Nissan dealership in College Park, Maryland, has been convicted on 17 charges in a vehicle theft scheme, according to Prince George’s County State’s Attorney Tara H. Jackson.
John Massaquoi faces 20 years in prison for stealing cars from Darcars Nissan at 9330 Baltimore Avenue.
On November 23, 2024, Massaquoi took keys from the dealership’s key locker, drove three cars off the lot, and returned on foot. He returned several days later and took another car.
The dealership reported losing $204,665 in inventory when it happened. Massaquoi was later detained and charged in the case. This amount includes what he is convicted of:
- Theft scheme over $100,000
- Four counts of theft $25,000 to $100,000
- Four counts of unlawful taking of a motor vehicle
- Four counts of unauthorized removal of property
- Four counts of rogue and vagabond.
“This defendant orchestrated a deliberate scheme that impacted a local business and violated the trust placed in him as an employee,” Jackson said.
Massaquoi’s sentence is planned for March 6, 2026.
