On Sunday, Aug. 31, numerous vehicles drove recklessly down Secaucus Road and County Avenue in Secaucus, with passengers sitting on the outside of moving cars, according to Secaucus Police Chief Dennis Miller. During the incident, one vehicle collided with onlookers after the driver lost control, Miller said.
According to Miller, participants set off fireworks under a marked Secaucus police vehicle while an officer was inside. According to Miller, others leaped upon the vehicle’s hood, causing thousands of dollars in damage.
Miller stated an investigation has been initiated, including the Secaucus police, the FBI, and the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
Secaucus police detained four New Jersey drivers on Monday, Oct. 6, for reckless driving during the takeover, according to Miller.
Raphael I. Coronel-Palacios, 21, of Roselle Park; Kyle Pound, 23, of Matawan; Joseph Miele, 22, of Jackson; and Louis Mercado, 18, of South Amboy have all been arrested. They were charged with recklessly causing widespread injury and endangering another person, as well as multiple motor vehicle summonses.
Pound was turned over to Robbinsville police on an active warrant related to a separate street takeover in which an onlooker was struck and injured, Miller stated.
According to authorities, the arrests included the seizure of a 2004 Lexus, a 2017 BMW, and a 1992 Mazda.
Police arrested Mario I. Cruz, 20, of Morganville; Geovanni J. Twiggs, 24, of South Amboy; Jameson P. Healey, 19, of Parlin; Ezzaddin Alsaedi, 26, of Bronx, NY; Mutasim F.
