A mother was detained after tensions erupted in her home over “financial stress” over Christmas.
Antiegra James, 37, was arrested last week on an assault allegation after an altercation at her Lady Lake home.
According to an arrest record from the Lake County Sheriff’s Office, James’ daughter phoned her biological father after witnessing her mother and stepfather fight.
James was about to take a shower and had asked her daughter to monitor her baby sibling. The daughter overheard a nasty altercation between her mother and stepfather. She opened the door, glanced outside, and then contacted her biological father. The youngster instructed her father to call law authorities and come fetch her. Deputies arrived at the site while the girl was in a car with her father.
Deputies discovered that James’ husband had received “several scratches” on his forehead and left temple.
James denied there had been a physical altercation but conceded that the dispute had been “loud and intense with profanity.” She claimed there was “tension due to financial stress around Christmas.” She was previously found guilty of violence in 2023.
She was booked into Lake County Jail and released after posting a $1,000 bond.
Because there were three children in the home, the Department of Children and Families was aware of the arrest.
