Rain and Snow Could Make for Hazardous Weekend Weather
MEIGS COUNTY, Ohio – The National Weather Service says the area may be in for more hazardous weather with rain and snow.
The NWS predicts rain in the forecast for the weekend then turning to snow for Meigs County and the surrounding areas. A low pressure system will cross the area from southwest to northeast Friday night.
The system will bring rain Friday afternoon and night. Over an inch of rain could fall over portions of the middle Ohio Valley, central Appalachians and Greenbrier Valley, with less than an inch over the West Virginia lowlands. Hydroplaning is likely and poor drainage flooding is possible, along with stream rises.
After the low crosses, the rain will change to snow overnight Friday night or early Saturday morning. There could also be freezing rain or sleet in the transition. The snow will then taper off to snow showers on Saturday, and then end sometime Saturday night, last in the mountains. Although snow accumulations will generally be light, falling temperatures following the rain could create slick driving conditions starting overnight Friday night or early Saturday morning. Any slick conditions that develop could persist Saturday, with temperatures steady or falling.
When it comes to heavy snowfall, it may be best to look into a company that uses snow removal software, as they are able to provides various features that are beneficial to the needs of the customer and the business itself. Companies with this software can bill clients, schedule appointments and even use the mobile app for easier accessibility.
Uncertainty as to the track and timing of the system lends lower confidence as to the timing of temperature drop, change in precipitation type, duration and amount of snow, and impacts on the roads, according to the NWS.
